About

Jeffrey Eaton is an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Dell Medical School, and he specializes in outpatient medicine. He is stationed at the VA clinic in Austin, seeing both his own patient panel as well as precepting residents in the Internal Medicine Resident Clinic.

Eaton spends his time developing curricula and other educational materials. His commitment to the school is evident in his interest in improving care transitions between inpatient and outpatient care. He spent years staffing a Complex Care Clinic that used a multidisciplinary approach to help patients with very complex disease states improve their health such that they would not need readmission to the hospital; he now brings that experience to the VA system. His organizing and implementation of procedures education for residents proves his interest and dedication in teaching the trainees. Currently, Eaton teaches paracentesis in the outpatient setting, joint injections and some dermatologic procedures. He also coordinates and onboards all Dell Med who are assigned to the VA during their Primary Care Clerkship, and he is known for his interest and mentoring in using technology to decrease the burden of data entry for providers.

He completed his bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas at Austin and completed his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch.
