The Pediatric Residency program at Dell Medical School seeks medical school graduates pursuing a career in pediatrics who have an interest in developing skills in a variety of domains, including clinical care, research, advocacy, education and quality improvement.

Eligibility

Applicants with one of the following qualifications are eligible for appointment to accredited residency programs:

  • Graduate of a medical school in the United States and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
  • Graduate of a college of osteopathic medicine in the U.S. accredited by the American Osteopathic Association.
  • Graduate of a medical school outside of the U.S. and Canada who meets one of the following qualifications:
    • Graduated from a medical school outside of the United States and completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by a Liaison Committee on Medical Education-accredited medical school.
    • Holds a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a United States licensing jurisdiction in his or her current Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education specialty or subspecialty program.
    • Holds a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates prior to appointment.

Application Procedure

Applicants for the PGY-1 level are selected through the National Resident Matching Program. All applications should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service.

The following should be included in the application:

  • Personal statement.
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (dean’s letter).
  • Three letters of recommendation from faculty members with whom the applicant has worked.
  • Medical school transcript(s).
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination and Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensure Examination scores, if applicable (Step I, II and CS when available).
  • ECFMG certification (if applicable).

Candidates requiring ECMFG certification will only be invited to an interview if they are ECFMG certified. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or have an EAD card.

Interview Process

After a review of application materials, the program will contact qualified applicants via Interview Broker to schedule an interview. The program conducts interviews from mid-October through January.

Interviews will take place virtually for the 2023-2024 year. No in-person interviews or second-look visits will be offered or required by the program. Interviewees will receive information regarding the virtual interview process from the program upon their selection for interview.
