Middle School & High School Pathways

Offerings

The Future Health Leader Award is awarded to third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade student projects focused on health. Dell Med staff, faculty and students serve as judges for the award.

The Health Career Collaborative is a national program that aims to connect medical students with high school students from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine. For this grant-funded program, Dell Med students to go Travis High School once a week in the spring semester to deliver a health-sciences-based curriculum. At the end of the semester, the high school students present their projects at Dell Med.

The Health Sciences Summer Camps are an educational opportunity for high school students interested or motivated in learning more about the health sciences. The camps are designed to inspire, prepare and expose students to professions within the health care field.

The Health Sciences Yearlong Academy offers high school students who have participated in the Health Sciences Summer Camps the opportunity to participate in monthly sessions covering health sciences, college readiness, strategies for a successful mentor experience, collaborative projects and health professions guest speakers.

Through Livestrong at School — led by the Livestrong Cancer Institutes — health science middle school and high school students and their teachers take experiences from the Livestrong Foundation’s award-winning Livestrong at School online cancer curriculum beyond the classroom to discuss cancer and careers with clinicians, researchers, community organizations and cancer survivors.

Led by the Livestrong Cancer Institutes, the Summer Healthcare Experience (SHE) in Oncology aims to empower high school student leaders with experiences, activities and discussions that introduce them to the incredible breadth of career and leadership opportunities in the field of oncology.
